Whale oil refinery

The museum’s exhibitions also extend outdoors. Along the old stone warehouses you can see the museum’s collection of whale oil refining equipment. The refinery was used to extract oil from blubber, and was an important source of income for many families in the Nuuk area. The refinery here was in use right up until World War II.
