How to request assistance or access archival materials

  1. Plan your request
    Clearly describe what you’re looking for (e.g. type of documents, time period, geographic area)

  2. Submit the Research Request Form
    Use the form below to let us know whether you’d like:

    • Archival research

    • Document access in-person or remotely

    • Scanning, copying, or other services

  3. What Happens Next
    Upon receiving your request, we review it and let you know whether it’s feasible. If so, we’ll provide:

    • An estimate of time and cost,

    • Information on any fees involved, before any work begins.

  4. Fees and Services

    • Short routine inquiries (under 1 hour) are free

    • Detailed research, locating materials, scanning, or copying may incur a fee.

Please describe what you would like (us to) to investigate or locate, and include any information that might help us to identify the relevant archival material as clearly as possible
Please specify the years or range of years that your request focuses on
Indicate specific places such as towns, districts, municipalities, regions, or institutions.
Describe what archival material or information you wish to find and what kind of insight or information you are hoping to gain
Indicate the authorities, institutions, associations, or individuals that created the archival material in question. Please include names, functions, and relevant time periods if known
e.g., known reference numbers or specific collection names etc.

Please note that archival materials may be in Greenlandic and/or Danish. The archive do not provide translation services. It is the responsibility of the requester to arrange for language assistance if needed.
